Join Us For a Live Clawhammer Banjo Workshop!
Please join us for Evie Ladin’s Clawhammer Banjo workshop, Jam Essentials: Adding Spice to Popular Tunes! This live workshop will happen on Zoom on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 10 AM - 11:30 AM Pacific / 1 - 2:30 PM Eastern.
Are you stuck playing tunes the same way over and over? Are there popular tunes at jam sessions that you’d like to add some seasoning to? Clawhammer banjo offers many subtle ways of shifting the rhythm or order of notes that adds variation, but still carries the essence of the tune. Many licks and passages can transfer from tune to tune within a key, opening up your playing, while still keeping the structure and role of the banjo in a jam. In this workshop, we’ll crowdsource tunes that you enjoy playing but want to spice up. Let’s dig in!
We are suggesting a $30 donation for attendees and will have a donation jar available at the event, but we want you to be able to attend regardless of your financial circumstances, so please feel free to donate what you're able to.
Please fill out the registration form, and we will follow up the day before the workshop with a link for the Zoom room. Looking forward to seeing you at the workshop!
Evie recently released Riding the Rooster 2, a collection of duets with some of her favorite fiddle players! Find it on Bandcamp, evieladin.com and anywhere you stream your music.

Evie Ladin’s Live Workshop on Zoom, Saturday, Feb 8
Evie Ladin’s polyrhythmic clawhammer banjo style, resonant voice, and percussive dance have been heard from A Prairie Home Companion to Celtic Connections, Lincoln Center to Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. Following a decade and three albums with the Stairwell Sisters, Evie has released four CDs that feature her banjo playing and songwriting: Float Downstream, Evie Ladin Band, Jump the Fire, and Caught on a Wire, as well as a traditional banjo and fiddle duet album with some of her favorite fiddlers: Riding the Rooster, and the 2024 follow-up, Riding the Rooster 2. And the Evie Ladin Band has recently released Playing Our Hand, an EP of some of her favorite covers. She is also a crackerjack percussive dancer and incorporates that rhythmic work into her playing and singing. A popular instructor at many music camps, as well as Berkeley, California’s Freight and Salvage when she is home, Evie tours frequently with her partner Keith Terry and The Evie Ladin Band.
